Curriculum & Instruction
Decatur City Schools prides itself on a world-class curriculum and expert professional development training. Some cutting-edge programs offered to our students include the following: Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI), Mobile Math Initiative (MMI), Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI), and the A+ College Ready Program. Teachers spend hundreds of hours each year in high-quality professional development activities. We pride ourselves in having some of the finest trained professionals in our state.
Parent's Right to Know
The Parents’ Right to Know Act (Act 2024-35) requires Decatur City Schools to ensure that currently adopted curricula for each class are available on the website of the school and that access to online curricula is available to students, parents, or guardians of enrolled students through the school website. Decatur City Schools strives to carefully align all academic and curricular decisions with the Alabama State Department of Education’s Courses of Study, the Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP), and the American College Test (ACT).
Parents/Guardians, if you have any questions regarding curriculum and/or instruction, please do not hesitate to contact your child's principal or teacher.
